Don’t you just love quotes and sayings? I do! I especially love the ones that lots of people use, but we really don’t know the derivation. More than that, I love laughing at ones that are just ridiculous when you really think about it! Here are a few of my favs:
What’s understood doesn’t have to be explained. – Unknown…but said by plenty of folks! Sounds SUPER deep, right?
Only God can judge me. – Unknown…but based on biblical principles; used by folks doing crazy stuff! Wrong, we CAN judge you. It may not count in your eyes, and not much may come from the judgment…but we’re judging all the same!
Everybody’s got an opinion.* – Unknown…but said by people who know they’re in the wrong! When folks don’t agree with someone’s statement they just state the obvious. Yes, of course everyone has opinions! Thanks for that observation! Lol
* Also see: Opinions are like assholes…everybody has one. True. Dat wah deep.
I won’t even get into all the students of Oswald Bates out there. That’s another post for another day! Lol
Ok let me start by saying this will be a fun post! I mean really, I get to talk about these ridiculous sheep being herded by these charlatan advisors. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with giving advice especially when it’s needed and the advice is sound.
However, these advice givers who pretend to be fake doctors (insert the doctoral designation you find here) and the like coupled with these ridiculous “quotes” which are no more than sayings passed down from the years you have probably already heard in some form of fashion, or actual quotes ripped from someone else in disguise without acknowledgement are sad. What is even more sad are the many people who don’t want to lead but are more than willing to follow any and everything that can type out a meme and throw some quotes around it.
I get it, everyone isn’t leader material. It happens, but if you are going to be a follower be an educated one. I am also going to tell you how to spot one of these fake deep quotes. Typically if the response on the social media of your choice consists of the following it is probably a fake deep quote:
“Oh you said something then” or something to that affect
“I really needed this right now”
“This is giving me so much life”
And my personal ridiculous favorite, “YYYAAASSSS” or anything that is supposed to resemble yes with multiples of any of the letters strung together in all caps or lowercase.
I did want to take this opportunity to say my granny, yes granny (southern for grandmother) wasn’t a college educated woman but she had plenty of good ole fashion common sense which she imparted on me in my younger years, no matter how much education I had at the time. Anytime I would be feeling myself in my discussions with her she would let me know in so many words that a lot of the times, with most things, common sense can go a long way. So I urge you all to start using common sense see through the fake deep quote fog and the charlatans who use them.
So, what are YOUR views on fake-deep quotes? Have any favorites or do you think these “leaders” are really trying to help lost sheep?
